Lucerna is a large underground club located just a few minutes walk from Wenceslas Square. Lucerna puts on gigs of popular Czech bands during the week, but at the weekend it transforms into Prague's best 80s & 90s themed nightclub. On Friday and Saturday nights a large screen is placed on the stage by the dance floor, and most of the tunes played by the DJs are accompanied by the original videos from back in the 80s and 90s. This certainly gets the crowd dancing. The interior of Lucerna is simple, but it is all about the atmosphere. The mainly Czech crowd dance until they drop, ensuring a great party mood. As mentioned, if you are looking for Czech music midweek, Lucerna is a good place to catch live bands. The dance floor wraps around a semi-circular stage, enabling the crowd to close in on the performers. Lucerna's drink prices are very reasonable, with Czech beer, wine and a selection of spirits and cocktails on sale at various bars dotted around the club. There is also a VIP viewing area upstairs. Neither the venue, nor the music is cutting-edge, but if you’re after a cheesy party night, this could be your place. |
