It is furnished in a typical Czech style. And the waiters, who offer polite efficient service, are dressed in traditional costume. Staromacek really comes into its own after dark when the lights are dimmed and an array of candles is lit around the restaurant. The menu features traditional Bohemian cooking with dishes based around pork, venison, chicken and sausage - including smoked meats - as well as local river fish such as trout and carp. There are also steak and other international dishes, but we feel the chef is better with Czech cuisine. The drinks menu includes a selection of Moravian wines and wonderful fresh, cold Pilsner beer. For typical Czech cuisine and service in the heart of Prague's Old Town, the prices at Staromacek are very reasonable. |
