Prague sightseeing tours---------------------------------------------- A half day sightseeing trip from Prague to visit Konopiste, an impressive castle set in the beautiful Czech countryside outside Prague. This sightseeing tour is part by air-conditioned bus, part on foot. After picking you up from your Prague hotel, we head southeast for around 45 minutes to reach Konopiste. Konopiste Castle dates from the 13th century. It was built as a Gothic fortification in the style of a French chateau. In the 17th century parts of the castle were remodelled in the Renaissance style, followed by further alterations to the Baroque style in the 18th century. Konopiste is surrounded by thick forest, so throughout its existence hunting was a popular pursuit for the nobility staying there. As we make our way around the castle, the guide will explain the huge collection of historical weapons, trophies, period furniture, paintings and tapestries on display. This excursion will leave visitors with a lasting impression of the power of the peoples living in this area of Central Europe in centuries past. More recently, Konopiste was owned by archduke Franz Ferdinand, whose assassination led to the beginning of the First World War. For refreshments, there is a bistro and café in the castle courtyard. Prague Experience sightseeing tours are in English and another language. They are led by licensed tourist guides and use modern, air-conditioned buses. If you require a tour in French, German, Italian, Russian or Spanish, state it in Special Requests on the booking form. The trip finishes back in Prague, near Wenceslas Square. |
