On New Year's Eve, the Medieval Tavern puts on the most authentic medieval banquet in Prague. Set in a historical building dating from 1402 in the Old Town, this all-inclusive night out features hearty food, unlimited drinks, and dramatic live entertainment and music.
Entry is by ticket, which must be purchased in advance via the book button on this page. As you enter the Medieval Tavern, the sights and smells transport you back in time to the Middle Ages. Guests are seated at dark wooden tables lit by candlelight. Above you, thick ropes hang from gnarled beams and vaulted stone ceilings. There is the hustle and bustle of scrumptious serving wenches.
An extensive historical show plays out all around, with entertainers dressed in costumes from the Middle Ages moving about the restaurant as they perform. These include swordsmen, jugglers, fire breathers and beautiful dancers. Medieval musicians stroll around playing a whole variety of instruments. And a fortune-teller may reveal your destiny. But beware the executioner!
A hearty, 'All You Can Eat' Medieval Feast is served throughout the event. The cooking is first-class and features medieval and traditional Czech food, including roast duck, chicken, pork, grilled sausages, Prague ham, chicken wings, pancakes, cheese, and home-made cakes. Waiters will be continuously moving around the restaurant carrying platters of food for guests to choose whatever they wish, whenever they wish.
Vegetarians are well catered for, with food cooked to order: On the night, choose from risotto, pasta, cheese gnocchi, grilled vegetables, salad, special pancakes, nuts and more besides. (If you require a vegetarian meal, state it in Special Requests on the booking form).
Unlimited Czech beer, wine and soft drinks is also included. Food and drink is always plentiful at the Medieval Tavern!
At Midnight: Toast in the New Year at the Medieval Tavern with your complimentary bottle of Bohemia Sekt 'Czech Champagne' (0.375ml). Alternatively, it is 3 minutes walk to the Old Town Square and 6 minutes to the River, where there are fireworks.
The ancient Medieval Tavern building has been expertly restored. It has a highly authentic feel, but gives a welcome nod to 21st century comforts and hygiene, which ensures a fine experience for everyone.
The Medieval Tavern always sells out on New Year's Eve, so advance reservations are essential.
