The most charismatic jazz clubs in Prague tend to occupy charming cellar spaces, and so it is with Agharta. You'll need to descend far below street level to reach this popular jazz club, but this just adds to its appeal. Agharta, which is located just off the Old Town Square, is set in an atmospheric 14th century cellar and offers live jazz every night from 9pm. While jazz is the central theme, other musical styles also come into play, from blues and funk to swing. The crowd is generally a mixture of nationalities and ages - all there to enjoy the great ambience and fine acoustics of the main room. The stage is pretty small, with the audience seated close up to the musicians. There is as much seating as possible squeezed in, but you may find yourself standing if you arrive late. Bar prices are fairly reasonable for a jazz club. And there is waiter service, so you won’t need to miss any of the performance. |
