Founded in 1958, Reduta Jazz Club is one of Prague's oldest jazz clubs. It is perhaps best known for being the club where the ‘Two Presidents’ gig took place, featuring Bill Clinton on the saxophone.
The interior of Reduta has a heavy red warmth about it, and pictures of jazz greats adorn the walls. The club also has an intimate feel, with just enough seating to ensure a good jazz club atmosphere. Indeed, the small stage is set right next to the front tables, which draws the audience into the performance.
Reduta presents live concerts every night from 7pm. This is not a strict arrival time. Concerts last for a minimum of three hours, and guests are free to come and go as they please. The musicians and bands are different every night, and the style of music can change from one night to the next, so it is a good idea to check out the programme before your visit. In line with the informal atmosphere, there is no waiter service. Instead, guests need to buy drinks direct from the bar.
Reduta is located just 5 minutes walk from Wenceslas Square.
You may not get to see a virtuoso performance from a passing head of state, but Reduta will always offer you an enjoyable night of jazz entertainment. |
