V Zátiší was one of the first restaurants to open in Prague after the velvet revolution. Ever since, it has consistently improved and outperformed its peers, both in the quality of its food and drink, and in its service. V Zátiší has received many accolades over the years - 'Best Restaurant in Prague´, 'Best Restaurant in Central and Eastern Europe', and more besides. Despite this, its quiet location still makes it somewhat of a hidden gem - the restaurant is set on a charming little square in the Old Town, Bethlehem Square (Betlémské náměstí), often ignored by travel guides. V Zatisi is furnished in a contemporary style, with touches of old time Prague. And while standards of service are amongst the best in the city, there is a relaxed and informal ambience; waiters are there to advise and assist, not overwhelm.
But the food is the real star. Their Indian chef creates inspired modern versions of traditional Czech fare, wows with degustation ideas from around the world, and offers some of the finest Indian cuisine you are likely to encounter.
For a fine dining experience, superb wines are of course essential, and here V Zatisi does not disappoint either. The restaurant's sommelier has sourced some excellent French and Italian wines, although his selection of Czech wines from Moravia is equally impressive, and staff are more than keen to advise you in this area. Alternatively, V Zatisi offers wine pairing - choose your food, and for a set price depending on the number of courses, the waiters will serve you matching wines. Finally, to leave all food and drink decisions in the hands of the restaurant, opt for one of their speciality set menus: the 'Degustation Menu', the 'Bohemian Menu', 'Indian Chef's Menu' or 'Seasonal Menu', all with a choice of wine pairing. The restaurant manager happily admits that the best part of his job is designing new menus and choosing the wines to suit. Who can blame him! V Zatisi offers a very fine dining experience indeed. Another best in class restaurant which offers a similar dining experience is Mlynec Restaurant. |
