Performance Details The date is 01 May 1904. The opera singer and Soprano, Marie, has organised a musical soirée at her beautiful home, one of the most favoured in Prague.Leading artists of the day are gathered in the Music Salon, and there is an air of excitement in anticipation of the arrival of Antonín Dvořák. As a mark of their respect for the great Czech composer, the assembled performers have prepared some entertainment for him. Each will play or sing their favourite work by him. This production, entitled Wonderful Dvořák, is half classical concert, half living history theatre, and features a talented cast of musicians, singers and actors. You, the audience, play the role of guests of the assembled musicians. On your arrival at Villa Amerika, actors in period costume will greet you and offer you a glass of the famous Czech liqueur, Becherovka. A member of the company will then briefly explain the event you are about to experience in your own language, and show you to your seat. During the performance: English and Czech is spoken by the actors; arias are in their original language; and printed programmes are available in several languages. Guests will be captivated by the charm and authenticity of Wonderful Dvořák, which is suitable for all nationalities to attend.

Villa Amerika was built between 1712-1720 as a summer palace. For two centuries this magnificent Baroque pleasure house attracted the aristocracy to its stylish interiors and well-manicured grounds.
Today, Villa Amerika houses the Dvořák Museum, which features the life and works of Antonín Dvořák. This performance of Wonderful Dvořák takes place its most beautiful room, the Music Salon.
In addition to the concert, a ticket for Wonderful Dvořák entitles you to visit the house and Dvořák Museum (note: arrive early, as you can only do the visit before the performance. Allow 30 minutes).
