Situated on a side street off Wenceslas Square, Rocky O’Reillys is one of the oldest Irish pubs in Prague, and strives to offer a taste of the Emerald Isle in the centre of the city.
This is a true stag and hen weekend pub (although everyone is made to feel welcome). While it won't win any interior design awards, for pure atmosphere it has bags of appeal. Rocky O’Reillys is in fact two pubs. The left-hand section has a homely feel, its dark wood interior and mirrored bar reminiscent of a Dublin city pub. The larger section on the right-hand side comprises a room at the front with wooden tables and a log fire (welcome in the winter), with another room at the rear where the real action takes place: rowdy sports entertainment, loud happy tunes, karaoke, and groups of lads (sometimes girls) drinking beer. A large screen takes centre stage, showing live football from the Premier League, Champions League, Euros, World Cup, and much more. Rugby, cricket, F1, GAA, NFL and other American sports are also shown a variety of screens dotted around the rest of the pub. When there is no sport to show (not very often!), the other entertainment kicks in: could be a DJ, live music, karaoke or a pub quiz. Rocky O'Reillys has ample space for big groups, which is just as well, as some stag parties appear not to leave for the whole weekend! On tap, Rocky's has Guinness, Kilkenny, Stella Artois, Heineken, and a favourite Czech beer, Budvar. Other options include Czech wines, International spirits and soft drinks. A mixture of Czech efficiency and warm Irish hospitality ensures fast and friendly delivery of drinks at Rocky's. Whichever side of the pub you choose to sit in, you are sure to have a good time. |
