Jama was once a buzzing American-style bar, one of the best in Prague, but following a recent renovation it is now a pub in search of an identity. As the name suggests, Jama has a decent garden at the rear, which is a pleasant enough place for a drink in the summer sunshine. But in winter, guests are confined to the pub itself, which has a rather stark interior. There needs to be more warmth in the decor. Having said this, there are positives. Jama Garden Pub is situated close to Wenceslas Square and Rocky O´Reillys Irish Pub, so is in a good location to attract both tourists and local Czechs. Plus, the pub itself has an inviting large cellar layout. So maybe there are plans to renovate the interior more, but at the time of writing we are still awaiting their realisation.
As for the service, the staff are friendly, and will ensure you are never short of a drink. On offer are good draught Czech beers, as well as wines, spirits and cocktails. And as the bar is on a back street, the prices are very reasonable. The pictures shown are of the old Jama. We are hoping for a new look beyond what is currently there, and we intend to update the photos at that stage. |
